Love, Care, and Compassion
Every animal is special, and every domestic animal yearns for a loving home.
UR_KY is here to help find the homes for those domestic animals, who are crammed into rural Kentucky county shelters with little hope for a future. United Rescues of KY works tirelessly to help those shelter animals find good rescues, wonderful foster homes and ultimately, a loving home of their own. UR_KY is a coalition of caring people: rescues, shelter directors and employees, transporters, volunteers, foster homes and more. Separate we all work to do our small parts, but together, we are making a big difference in Kentucky, one cat or dog at a time (or horse, or bird or snake....)
IT"S HOT! So it's that time of the year when no pet or human should be left in a vehicle, even for a moment, or when no pet should be left outside without adequate shade, water and the ability to move, or left inside without airflow or air conditioning, or when no pet should be forced to play or jog with the potential of overheating of suffering heatstroke! Many URKY members carry flyers or cards that they put on cars or doors to remind people to take care of their pets in the heat. Member Deb Z sent us this link where you can DOWNLOAD FLYERS; it just might save an animals life! Here is a link for more information on preventing heatstroke and other tragedies: UAN LINK

These beautiful photos are of Tiny Tim; the tiny boy who was turned in to an area shelter. That shelter wouldn’t give up on Tim, and prayers were answered. WONDERFUL people came and got Timmy, and took him home. Here are pics of Tim in his new wheelchair, and in his new life. Thank you to all of you who tried to help him, advised us, and sent him light and prayers. Many of you have emailed me for an update; this just came in from his wonderful family! From his mom:

Thank you for your compassion and kindness.
GOOD NEWS! HANCOCK CO'S NEW ANIMAL SHELTER IS UP AND RUNNING!
Lisa McCormick is proud to announce that the Hancock Co KY Animal Shelter is far enough along in its building that it is now housing dogs! Per Lisa: "The kennel part is finished and the office and cat room is under construction. We are proud of the nice building we now have for our animals. We received a wonderful donation from URKY via Bev Watson (GoodWags) of fleece blankets. How nice this is for the dogs! Thank you URKY!" Some of you will recall that before Lisa's involvement, the shelter was made up of kennels on an open flat bed truck, with a roof over them. This is wonderful news!
You often see a special case animal in need on this site that URKY is helping (animals who have no help from any other organization), but every member shelter and rescue has medical needs as well. Please visit our member shelters to adopt or help.
