Every animal is special, and every domestic animal yearns for a loving home.
UR_KY is here to help find the homes for those domestic animals, who are crammed into rural Kentucky county shelters with little hope for a future. United Rescues of KY works tirelessly to help those shelter animals find good rescues, wonderful foster homes and ultimately, a loving home of their own. UR_KY is a coalition of caring people: rescues, shelter directors and employees, transporters, volunteers, foster homes and more. Separate we all work to do our small parts, but together, we are making a big difference in Kentucky, one cat or dog at a time (or horse, or bird or snake....)
UR_KY is proud to assist it's members in:
- Transporting to approved rescues or helping arrange transport
- Finding food and items for animals in need
- Getting basic supplies donated to rescues and shelters
- Provides a forum for all members
- Veterinary and business help to members
- Post animals in need so rescues and potential homes can learn about them
- Providing an umbrella of support to all members
- Public service announcements and programs
- Educational tools that teach compassion and the importance of spay/neuter
- Low cost spay and neuter information
- Access to experienced animal rescuers
- An organized force for special needs
- Emotional support for those who work with the animals
- Help in emergency situations, such as abuse cases
- and more and more and more
URKY IS IN NEED OF BIG HELP TO PAY OUTSTANDING VETTING AND BOARDING BILLS ON A GOOD DEED GONE WRONG!
WE HAVE $9,200 IN DEBTS THAT ARE THE RESULT OF DOING A GOOD DEED. WE HELPED A RESCUER TAKE IN A LARGE NUMBER OF AN INDISCREET BREEDER'S TURN IN ANIMALS. AND WE GOT STUCK WITH THEM. THEY ARE ALL SAFE NOW, BUT WE NEED HELP. UNTIL WE CAN RETIRE THESE DEBTS OUR HANDS ARE TIED TO DO ANY MORE BREEDER TURN IN RESCUES. WE CAN NOT DO ANY MORE ABUSER BUSTS, SAVING HUNDREDS OF ANIMALS AND RESULTING IN CONVICTIONS OF THE ABUSERS. WE CAN NOT SUPPLY OUR MEMBERS WITH EMERGENCY VETTING FUNDS AS WE'VE DONE SO OFTEN IN THE PAST. WE HAVE ALWAYS PRIDED OURSELVES ON GOOD PLANNING. IF THE FUNDS WEREN'T IN THE BANK, OR PROMISED, THEN WE ALWAYS SAID 'NO'. THIS TIME WE SAID 'YES' WITHOUT THE FUNDS, ON A PROMISE FROM SOMEONE WE TRUSTED, AND WE GOT STUCK WITH MANY LARGE, MIXED BREED, UNSOCIALIZED DOGS. IF JUST 900 PEOPLE WILL DONATE JUST $10 EACH - WE CAN GET BACK TO THE BUSINESS OF SAVING LIVES. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.
