Medical Emergencies

The animals on this page need serious medical attention. Without your help they may not get the treatment that they need, to heal, walk again or even live. Donations for these animals could be taken by the rescue that is treating them or URKY, please besure to read about these babies to ensure that you are donating to the right organization.

The Shelby County Humane Society pulled these two angels from LMAS this weekend.  Both of these tiny dogs were hit by cars at different times in different areas of the city.  The shelter staff wasn't willing to give up on them and contacted us to ask us to help them.
We need your help in order to help these sweet babies.  All donations in excess of what is needed for Chirp and Cody will be used to help injured and sick animals in need taken in by the Shelby County Humane Society.
Please note: the Shelby County Humane Society is a Non profit no Kill animal rescue based in Shelby County. (Not to be confused with the Shelby County No Kill Mission).
Donations can be made at the link below or can be mailed to 40 N 7th Street, Shelbyville, KY 40065.  Donations can also be made at ShelbyCoHumaneSociety.com.  Please note that it is for Chirp or Cody.

Cody was also hit by a car.  He is a 7lb Pomeranian and just won't give up. This boy was scheduled for euthanasia because he has no use of his hind legs.  At the time, he had no pain response in the legs.  Three times the staff went in to perform the deed, but couldn't do it after he wagged his tail at them.  He also had X rays Monday morning.  He has no broken bones, but has a spinal injury.  He is on a steroid in hopes that he will regain use of his legs.  This little guy is just happy and full of life!  Thanks so much for those who had a hand in giving him a second chance!

Little Chirp had X rays done Monday morning and it was determined that she has a dislocated hip.  She also has abrasions on both hind legs.  She requires FHO surgery to "fix" the problem.  She will have the surgery next week (to allow her time to get over the trauma of being hit).  We really need YOUR help to help this baby have a chance at a good, new life.
